We answer in English and German. When something does not work, the single most useful thing you can tell us is what the Policy screen showed at the time — it names which check failed, which is usually the whole answer.

Before anything else

Always carry your Tesla key card. TeslaKee depends on Bluetooth, on your phone’s battery, and on iOS or Android choosing to wake the app. Any of those can fail. Treat TeslaKee as your everyday convenience, and the key card as the thing that always works.

The car does not unlock when I walk up to it

Open TeslaKee and look at the Policy screen. Each rule shows whether it passed and why. The rule that failed is the one to fix.

BLE Signal — the phone is not close enough, or has no reading yet. The vehicle has to be within a few metres. If the reading looks reasonable but the check still fails, the signal threshold may be set too strictly; lower it in Settings.

Motion — the phone has not detected movement recently. Grant Motion & Fitness permission in your phone’s settings; without it this check can never pass.

Screen State — some configurations require the phone to have been unlocked recently. If you have this set to required and your phone has been in a pocket untouched for a long time, entry will be refused by design. Set it to optional if that is not what you want.

Geofence — you are outside the area you allowed access in.

Also check:

  • Bluetooth is on.
  • Location permission is set to Always, not “While Using”. TeslaKee cannot wake when you approach your car without it.
  • The kill switch is off. When it is on, the app shows “Car Key Disabled” and will not respond to the vehicle at all.

It works sometimes but not always

Approach detection depends on your phone’s operating system waking the app as you come into range, and that timing varies. If the car does not open, opening the app usually connects immediately.

If this happens often, tell us — the timing is something we actively tune, and a description of where you were and how you approached genuinely helps.

The car says there is no key while I am driving

TeslaKee refreshes the vehicle’s awareness of your phone periodically. If the message persists, opening the app clears it. Please report it if it keeps happening.

Enrolment fails

Enrolling a key requires your physical Tesla key card:

  1. Be next to the vehicle with it awake — open a door or touch the screen.
  2. Start enrolment in TeslaKee and choose your vehicle from the list.
  3. When the app says it is waiting, tap your key card on the B-pillar — the door pillar between the front and rear doors on the driver’s side.
  4. Do not touch the app while it waits. Interacting during this step can interrupt the pairing.

If it still fails, check your car’s key list on the touchscreen. Teslas allow a limited number of keys; remove any you no longer use and try again.

The vehicle name looks wrong

TeslaKee shows the name you gave your car. If it shows a placeholder, connect once and it will pick up the real name.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details.

To cancel: open your App Store or Google Play account settings and manage subscriptions there. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies; we cannot issue them.

Restore a purchase: Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases.

Privacy

Access decisions are made on your device. Your location, movement and routine are not transmitted. See the App Privacy Policy for the single exception, and the Terms of Service.

Removing TeslaKee

Deleting the app destroys its key on your phone. To remove that key from the vehicle as well, delete it from your car’s touchscreen — key management there is controlled by the vehicle, not by us.
